EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Montgomery County school board voted Thursday to suspend plans to close Silver Spring International Middle School and incorporate the decision in a future elementary school boundary study planned after Crown and Woodward boundaries are set.   • Snowden Farm Elementary School is marking Inclusive Schools Week from Dec. 8—12 with a Q&A that shows how the school uses safe spaces, daily meetings, and special programs to help every student feel welcome.  Montgomery County Public Schools
  • Montgomery County Public Schools announced that all first marking period report cards are now available on ParentVue.   • Three Montgomery County students won Representative Jamie Raskin’s 2025 Congressional App Challenge for their SafeStride mobile app that helps visually impaired people navigate safely, following their summer project at the University at Shady Grove, and they will attend the Capitol Hill Reception in Washington later.  WUSA9
  • Montgomery County Public Schools held a School Board meeting Thursday night where parents and students voiced concerns about using Crown High School as holding site amid attendance zone proposals. Officials shared brief on the November boundary study, and a recommendation is expected in January before a vote in March.  FOX 5 DC

  • Ground was broken Wednesday for Reserve Strathmore Square, a 20-story senior living community with 220 residences and ground floor retail near the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro.
