Good morning, Rockville.

AstraZeneca announced plans to build a clinical manufacturing facility in Gaithersburg as part of its $2 billion expansion that will add 100 jobs, keep 400 roles, and support 1,000 construction jobs.

The new site is set to open by 2029 and will boost Maryland’s life sciences supply—continuing the company’s growing local investments.

The revised University Boulevard Corridor Plan, which aims to create more affordable housing, safer sidewalks, and improved public transit, will be presented to the full council for a vote after extensive community review and committee amendments—local residents believe the changes may help teachers, nurses, and other essential workers stay close to amenities.
