EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montgomery County school district is proposing to redraw school boundaries to ease overcrowding and create space for two new schools—four proposals released earlier this year offer changes to enrollment zones—plans that will be reviewed for future adoption.  WUSA9

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A report released Monday by the Inspector General found that Montgomery County Public Schools used inconsistent documentation during fiscal years 2023 and 2024, including several purchases over $25,000 made without Board approval—records were often incomplete or scattered across systems. Superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor said the system will update its manuals by February and create a spending tracker by December to prevent waste and mismanagement.  Montgomery Community Media

  • Bethesda-Chevy Chase Girls’ and Walt Whitman Boys’ soccer teams lost in their Class 4A State Finals last weekend at University Maryland-Baltimore County.
