- ➤ Colin Vale — known as Carving Colin — left his engineering career to carve a 16-foot public sculpture in Washington Grove; he carved the piece from an old red oak in Woodward Park over two months and unveiled it Monday evening to local residents and officials. The event featured cultural dance performances — including those by Gloria de la Danza and Northwest High School’s Paso Fuerte Latin Dance Team — which showcased Latino heritage.
