  • ➤ Maryland Renaissance Festival organizers said they will take legal action against scalpers who resell tickets above face value as the event runs on Oct. 11-12 and Oct. 18-19 in Crownsville. They ask ticket holders to email copies of their ticket and receipt so officials can gather more information—ensuring loyal fans are not overcharged.  WTOP
  • ➤ The National Capital Radio and Television Museum in Bowie shows early radio and TV sets along with original manuals that share the story of American media. The museum offers tours and classes to help visitors learn restoration techniques—engaging locals with hands-on history.  WTOP

  • ➤ Montgomery County’s Office of Consumer Protection warned furloughed federal workers about scammers taking advantage of the government shutdown by offering unauthorized loans or work-from-home deals—staff have not yet received complaints.   • ➤ Montgomery County's 911 call center is planning to use artificial intelligence to screen non-emergency calls + lower wait times, with funding from the 911 board and a plan to reach full staffing by July 2026.   • ➤ Maryland Food Bank expects more people to visit local pantries as the federal shutdown causes missed pay for federal workers and contractors. Gov. Moore and local businesses have offered flexible utility plans, housing protections, and short-term loans to help ease financial stress — efforts that aim to support neighbors during the ongoing shutdown.  MoCo360
  • ➤ At 9 a.m. today in the Stella Werner Council Office Building, Montgomery County Council will consider a bill that requires landlords to give tenants 14 days’ notice before evictions and send a copy to the Department of Housing and Community Affairs—making noncompliance a Class A civil violation with fines for repeat offenses. The council will also review an executive regulation that gives hiring preference to displaced federal workers—if approved it will take effect Friday and extend opportunities to those separated from federal jobs after Jan. 1.  MoCo360
