- ➤ In June, Montgomery County Public Schools received thousands of false alerts from HALO Smart Sensors installed in high school bathrooms—normal activities like flushing or moving nearby often triggered the alarms—and some officials criticized the $2 million sensor program funded by a Juul settlement as a waste of money. - ➤ Montgomery County Public School teachers earned the highest average salaries in the state last year with an average of $101,296 for the 2024–25 school year—placing their pay ahead of nearby districts and national averages. MoCo360

- ➤ WMATA is proposing major changes at Twinbrook Metro station in Rockville — relocating the bus loop, bus bays and Kiss — Ride facilities while removing a 164-space parking lot to create a transit plaza for future residential and commercial development. The agency is accepting public feedback with a hearing on Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. and an online survey open until Oct. 27. MoCo360
- ➤ Montgomery County leaders announced a plan for next year's 250th anniversary celebration of its founding in 1776—aiming to include stories from underrepresented groups in the county's history. - ➤ Montgomery County deputies have expressed no confidence in Sheriff Max Uy as nearly 80% of their union voted this way after 30 deputies left since his 2022 election—Sheriff Uy blamed the staffing shortages on a perfect storm of retirements and departures. - ➤ Union leaders in Montgomery County announced a vote of no confidence in Sheriff Maxwell Uy on Wednesday because his management left morale at an all-time low.
