- ➤ Rockville will host Rocktobierfest on Sept. 27—an annual free festival celebrating its long-standing sister city relationship with Pinneberg that will close roads along Maryland and East Montgomery avenues from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; two music stages will feature Bavarian tunes while vendors serve German sausages and local brews. - ➤ Maryland residents who owe at least $20,000 in student loans and pay state taxes must apply online for a tax credit by Sept. 15. Most applicants will receive an average credit of $1,800 with a maximum of $5,000 and have three years to show the credit on their loan balance (or they must repay the money). WUSA9

- ➤ Maryland Gov. Wes Moore announced his run for re-election in 2026 on Tuesday morning and said he would work to turn a budget deficit into a surplus, lower Baltimore homicides, and improve schools. He told voters his campaign would build on actions such as reopening the Port of Baltimore after the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in March 2024—an effort following his 2022 win as Maryland’s first Black governor. - ➤ Montgomery County planners presented a redesign plan for a three-mile stretch of University Boulevard that offers wider sidewalks, safer spaces for pedestrians and bicyclists, and optional zoning changes for homeowners.
