- ➤ Montgomery Public Schools hosted its first Transition Day on Monday at Paint Branch High School in Burtonsville for kindergarteners, third graders, sixth graders, high school freshmen, and students changing schools—students met teachers and principals and got to know their new building before classes began Tuesday. - ➤ Montgomery County Public Schools have new rules that let students use phones before school and on buses but require elementary and middle school students to keep them away in class while high school students may use them at lunch and between classes. Teachers must show student progress for a 50% grade and return late work in 10 school days—parents can review class plans through a new one-page curriculum. WTOP
- ➤ Families and staff attended a back-to-school fair Saturday at Westfield Wheaton mall ahead of schools starting today; officials say Montgomery County Public Schools enforce strict rules to keep ICE out and offer help through community partners—Monday was used as a transition day for kindergartners, sixth graders and ninth graders as well as new students.
