- ➤ Bao Bei, a Taiwanese bao bun restaurant, will open its first brick-and-mortar shop on Aug. 27 in Montrose Crossing at 12055 Rockville Pike—next to Honey Pig Korean BBQ and Kosmo Nail Bar in Rockville. Owner Kevin Hsieh started Bao Bei as a ghost kitchen in North Bethesda and plans to bring his authentic Taiwanese street food to the local community. MoCo360

- ➤ A 17-year-old was shot and killed Tuesday night at 11:30 p.m. in the LongBranch area on University Boulevard East—police said that two others nearby were not hurt—and the investigation is ongoing. Montgomery Community Media
- ➤ A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot late Tuesday in the Long Branch area of Silver Spring — police responded at around 11:30 p.m. on University Boulevard East, pronounced him dead, and found two others uninjured while the homicide remains under investigation with no suspects in custody. - ➤ A Montgomery County judge denied bond Tuesday for a Derwood man who faces charges for helping his roommate dispose of his 81-year-old mother's body. - ➤ A new docuseries titled Abandoned: The Woman in the Decaying House revisits a long-ago case of abuse in Montgomery Village as filmmaker Katia Lund documents retired FBI agent Don Neily’s account of Hilda Rosa Dos Santos’s years of domestic slavery—her ordeal that first surfaced in 2000. - ➤ On August 20th, U.S. News & World Report ranked eight Montgomery County public schools among Maryland's top 25 high schools. Walt Whitman High in Bethesda held its No.2 spot and Thomas S. Wootton High in Rockville moved to No.3 as other school rankings shifted. MoCo360
- ➤ Montgomery drivers must stop 20 feet from a school bus with its stop sign extended and red lights flashing and may not pass from any direction until the signals turn off-having to obey that rule even on roads with medians when driving in the same direction. Violators caught by onboard cameras face a $250 fine while police stops may lead to fines up to $570 and 3 license points, with County Police Chief Marc Yamada stressing the law protects students.
