- ➤ Montgomery County Public Schools will start the new academic year on Aug. 26, with an optional transition day on Aug. 25 for students moving to different grades or schools—allowing early tours, introductions, and practice with routines. New policies include stricter cell phone rules during class, revised grading and conduct standards, and a back-to-school fair with free health screenings and transportation scheduled for Saturday at Westfield Wheaton mall.
