- ➤ Live in Your Truth and Montgomery County Pride Center will host the annual Back 2 School Block Party at Veterans’ Plaza on Friday, Aug. 22 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The event will feature music, vendors, games and free supplies giveaways — organizers are inviting applications for sponsorship, tables or volunteer participation. - ➤ Montgomery County Police Department detectives released surveillance footage of a Wheaton stabbing on Aug. 2 and are asking local residents to help identify a 28-year-old Hispanic male suspect seen wearing a Nicaragua baseball jersey, a blue cap, and white sneakers while the victim was taken to hospital in critical but stable condition. - ➤ Strathmore will hold a free exhibit called Hauntings—featuring ghostly portraits, dark landscapes, and monster art—at Mansion Galleries from Oct. 4 to Nov. 8 to mark the spooky season. - ➤ Montgomery County officials are worried that an executive order moving people who are homeless in DC will put extra strain on local services — they plan to review its impact closely. WUSA9
- ➤ Maryland Gov. Wes Moore’s latest poll showed only 50% of respondents rated his job performance as good or excellent—42% said his work was not so good or poor, and his approval rating has declined since a March survey. Critics say rising taxes and economic challenges are hurting his numbers while his office did not comment on the results. WJLA
