- ➤ On July 23, the Maryland Supreme Court overturned Sergey Danshin’s life sentence for the Red Roof Inn murder — his 2022 conviction was nullified and a local fire engine was written off after driving through flooded streets in Silver Spring on Saturday night. - ➤ Montgomery County Council held a public hearing Tuesday in Rockville on a bill to ban the sale of running bamboo and require that new construction landscaping include at least 50% native plants—environmentalists say the measure will help curb this aggressive, invasive species.
