On Tuesday, Rockville startup Liatris announced it will double its lab space and staff to produce a new fireproof insulation that is thinner and more effective than the standard bulky type.

The expansion, supported by $800,000 from the state and $60,000 from Montgomery County with local technical help, will add over 100 jobs and boost the local economy by more than $20 million in the next three years — a ribbon-cutting ceremony included Governor Wes Moore and other officials.
