- ➤ On Tuesday, Rockville startup Liatris announced it will double its lab space and staff to produce a new fireproof insulation that is thinner and more effective than the standard bulky type. The expansion, supported by $800,000 from the state and $60,000 from Montgomery County with local technical help, will add over 100 jobs and boost the local economy by more than $20 million in the next three years — a ribbon-cutting ceremony included Governor Wes Moore and other officials. - ➤ Montgomery County Police are asking for help in locating Brandon Lee Smith, a 27-year-old man with autism last seen Monday afternoon near the 5400 block of McGrath Boulevard in Rockville while wearing a black shirt and pajama pants and possibly using public transportation. FOX 5 DC
- ➤ Eduardo Valdivia, a former FBI agent from Gaithersburg, was convicted on 6 counts of second-degree rape and 2 counts of fourth-degree sexual offense after luring three young women to his tattoo parlor with promises of free tattoos and modeling opportunities—he now faces a sentencing hearing on Oct. 14 with a maximum penalty of up to 122 years in prison.
