EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students at Julius West Middle School celebrated Chesapeake Bay Awareness Week by designing storm drain art, monitoring streams, and creating a pollinator garden in partnership with Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection + Nature Forward and Montgomery County Master Gardeners. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rockville residents went to a Monday night city council meeting to ask for rent stabilization since Montgomery County started it in July but Rockville was left out — many believe the housing rules need to change. A German biotech company in Gaithersburg laid off 63 workers as it ended cell therapy work by year’s end and a 102-year-old Tudor home in Silver Spring was listed for $2.4 million — both moves shaping local business and housing trends.  MoCo360
  • The Metro Red Line experienced service disruptions on Wednesday and Thursday as trains ran on single tracks and some only operated between Shady Grove and Farragut North, delaying daily commutes. Many riders used Metrobus routes D8 and 80 while crews worked to repair tracks—commuters saw fewer crowds during the Juneteenth holiday.  WUSA9
