- ➤ Montgomery County police are searching for a suspect involved in an armed robbery at the Exxon gas station in the 11400 block of Rockville Pike in Rockville—officers said he, approximately 40 years old with a medium build and wearing a light scarf, a black coat, blue jeans and tan boots, entered the store around 7 a.m. on June 5 and took cash and property. - ➤ The Montgomery County Police Department Summer Traffic Task Force began May 21 to monitor alcohol-related offenses during busy events like graduation parties, proms and summer holidays, and on June 13 officers set up a sobriety checkpoint to keep gatherings safe. The operation, which will continue through the end of July, has led to 358 stops, 426 citations, 510 warnings and 49 DUI arrests—figures that do not include additional patrol arrests. - ➤ Montgomery County police warned seniors about scams in which fraudsters pose as federal officers and claim your finances are at risk while urging you to purchase gold bars — the scammers use pop-up ads and phishing texts and set up meetings at public places, leaving many defrauded of their life savings. - ➤ Montgomery County Public Schools honored four Class of 2025 graduates who worked hard in school and sports and helped their communities. - ➤ Montgomery County Public Schools will start a new alternative education program in August at North Lake Center Holding Facility on Bauer Drive for fewer than 100 students who need extra support. - ➤ Five student teams from Montgomery County Public Schools earned national recognition at National History Day held from June 8th to 12th at the University of Maryland, College Park.
