  • Montgomery County’s Department of Recreation opened outdoor pools in time for Memorial Day and will offer new summer programs that include youth job opportunities for teens seeking extra income, according to director Gabe Albornoz.   • A train fire early Friday at Penn Station suspended Amtrak and NJ Transit services between Washington, Philadelphia, and New York (two people were injured and taken to Bellevue Hospital) as crews inspected the tunnel and delayed service restoration.  FOX 5 DC

  • Montgomery County environmental officials warn that spotted lanternflies, currently in their nymph stage, will mature by July and may harm vulnerable plants this summer. They advise residents to remove the insects manually rather than using broad-spectrum pesticides.  WUSA9
