  • Montgomery County police are investigating the death of a man at Silver Diner in Rockville after a drunken customer assaulted the manager on Wednesday night—first responders attempted resuscitation but he was later pronounced dead— and authorities continue the investigation.  MoCo360

  • Maryland's Public Service Commission & 80 legislators filed a complaint accusing the grid operator of setting prices artificially in a flawed wholesale market. Electric rates will rise in June as a result of this pricing method.  WUSA9

  • Multiple MCPS parents say that students with behavioral challenges have made classrooms unsafe at some schools (with reports of incidents and delayed special education evaluations).   • Montgomery County Public Schools announced that over 12,000 Class of 2025 students will earn high school diplomas in ceremonies held from May 28 to June 12 at venues such as UMBC and DAR Constitution Hall — some events will include keynote speakers and live performances.  Montgomery Community Media

  • County planners voted last Thursday to add Timberlawn— the 1901 Georgian-revival house at 5700 Sugarbush Lane where Eunice Kennedy Shriver hosted the first summer camp for children with intellectual disabilities— to the county’s historic preservation plan.   • Local law enforcement are boosting patrols this Memorial Day weekend—seeking to stop impaired, speeding and distracted driving as over 1 million metro residents travel mostly by car and nearly 92,000 fly.
