  • Montgomery County Public Schools will raise meal prices by 30 cents for 2026-2027 to offset rising costs and school lunch debt. Developers pitched a 134-unit apartment near Chevy Chase Lake for mid-May review while rapper T.I. will perform at The Fillmore on July 18 with tickets on sale Friday.  MoCo360

  • Montgomery County Public Schools is celebrating National Physical Education and Sport Week at MLK Middle School by offering the Riding for Focus program — an initiative that teaches students cycling skills, endurance, and confidence using heart rate monitors — and helps them practice essential riding techniques.  Montgomery County Public Schools
  • Montgomery Blair High School teacher Michelle Elie was named Teacher of the Year 2026 by Montgomery Public Schools this week.   • Teachers held rallies and walk-outs on May 7 as budget talks intensified in Montgomery County. Educators warned that proposed cuts in pay and staffing could affect classroom programs at local schools, including Takoma Park Middle School.  WJLA

  • Jones Lane Elementary PE teacher Jenna Kaufman has attended her students' weekend sports games and plans more appearances this spring to show her support, extending care beyond the classroom.   • Montgomery County Public Schools has added 10 new schools to its Maryland Green Schools certification program, now totaling 123 certified schools with 58% of MCPS meeting the standard.   • Metro’s summer construction will close stations between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights — a change that has raised concerns among riders about possible delays as work continues.  WUSA9
