  • Young Artists of America put on The Prince of Egypt on Saturday at Music Center at Strathmore with guest mentor Stephen Schwartz. The nonprofit announced plans for a new rehearsal facility at 1626 East Jefferson St. in Rockville — set to open in 2027 as part of its $8M campaign.  MoCo360

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montgomery County Public Schools honored two elementary school teachers—Charles Silberman of Rolling Terrace and Julee Lipsman of Great Seneca Creek—with the Shirley J. Lowrie “Thank You for Teaching” Awards, each receiving $2,500 for contributions in curriculum innovation and community partnerships.   • The Montgomery County Alliance of Black School Educators recognized 28 graduating seniors during its 15th annual Distinguished African American Scholar Awards at Rockville High School on April 30.   • Silver Spring second-grade teacher Estelle Moore, also known as Momma Moore, was honored on National Teacher Appreciation Day Tuesday at Greencastle Elementary School + she received a $5,000 check while celebrating her 52-year teaching career with MCPS.  MoCo360
