ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • An analysis from the Drought Monitor shows that severe drought conditions officially affect the D.C. area — including Rockville — with expected weekend rains that will not fully relieve the dry spell. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Thursday, Montgomery County Executive Elrich proposed raising the county income tax rate from 3.2% to 3.3% to boost revenue — county officials will review the plan at upcoming meetings.  WUSA9
  • Montgomery Parks received $5M from the state to renovate four parks and advance the Action Sports Park project at Wheaton Regional Park—projects that include a new skate park, climbing wall and playground. The funding comes after a recommended $2M bond cut by County Executive Marc Elrich, and if extra money is restored the parks department will begin construction in fiscal year 2028 and 2029—helping bridge a critical funding gap.  MoCo360
  • County Executive Marc Elrich spoke last Thursday at the Leggett Executive Office Building in Rockville about how national politics affect education, economic development, and housing. He said the county is very diverse and vowed—firmly—that he will fight against any threat to freedom.  Montgomery Community Media
