  • Silver Branch Brewing Co. will open a new 7,000 sqft space in Wheaton summer 2027, pending final lease and construction contract at the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission headquarters on Reedie Drive. The venue will include a taproom with an outdoor beer garden, Mosaic Pizza, and events space.  MoCo360

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Montgomery County Economic Development Corp. named Texas entrepreneur Danny Chavez as its new vice president of business development; he will start on May 4 (a post vacant since mid-2024) to boost local economic growth.  MoCo360

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montgomery County Public Schools approved a plan to move Wootton students to a new building at Crown High in Gaithersburg fall, while a group of parents claims the move is effectively a school closure and is asking for a 60-day review pause.  Montgomery Community Media
  • MCPS is considering raising school meal prices by 95 cents over three years to cover rising food and labor costs while keeping its food services solvent. The changes, planned for fiscal years 2027–2029, will not affect students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals.  MoCo360

  • The No. 3 Bullis Bulldogs beat the No. 6 Landon Bears 5-2 in Bethesda on Friday, with sophomore Mason Keller scoring early and senior Jake Zamoiski making four key saves + coach Jeff Bellistri praising the defense. The win continued Bullis’ four-game winning streak.  MoCo360
