- ➤ A Montgomery County jury convicted 21 year old Edgard Castro Contreras of first degree murder, first degree conspiracy and firearm charges for killing Edvin Agustín León at Northwest Stream Valley Park on November 9th, 2022—his sentencing will take place on August 18 while another co accused awaits a retrial. - ➤ Former acting assistant principal Rahman Culver filed a lawsuit against Montgomery County Public Schools and the school board, alleging their staffing guidelines limit Black educators from administrative roles—he claims these changes forced him into a lower-paying position that did not match his experience. - ➤ The Maryland Transit Administration has begun dynamic testing of all eight Purple Line light rail vehicles on a one-mile track at its Veterans Parkway Operations and Maintenance Facility in Glenridge—marking a key step in the project.
