  • Montgomery County officials announced winners of the (Head Up, Phones Down) video contest as high school students promoted distraction-free travel ahead of safer roads. Julian Szell of John F.   • Councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles held her fourth annual Women’s History Month celebration at BlackRock Center for the Arts on Friday in Germantown.   • Montgomery County Animal Shelter hosts Mutt Madness this weekend with reduced adoption fees of $16 to help local families adopt a pet. The event provides an opportunity for residents to meet available animals at the shelter.  WUSA9

  • Metro will close the Red Line between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights from July 6 through Sept. 6 to support construction at Bethesda, Grosvenor-Strathmore, and Rockville Pike, with free shuttle buses provided to maintain service and expected travel times reaching 48 minutes.  WUSA9

  • A Maryland family expressed relief after State Troopers rescued their choking baby at a home in Rockville. The family says the timely intervention saved their child.  WUSA9

  • Northwest High School boys basketball coach C.J. Jenkins livestreamed the Montgomery County Senior All Star Game from Montgomery College gymnasium on Wednesday to over 2,000 Instagram followers via his @mocohoops page, and he resumed varsity coaching in 2025 after starting juniors in 2018 & now shares game highlights and player profiles.  MoCo360
