- ➤ Rockville's 2024 crime report showed a moderate increase in crime with 449 offenses against persons, 2,107 property crimes and 77 society crimes compared to 454, 1,868 and 92 respectively in 2023 + police handled 26,047 calls, arrested 761 individuals and issued 47,183 red-light camera citations. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A new study by TRIP shows that poor road conditions cost Maryland drivers about $12 billion every year. Nearly half of major roads are in poor or average shape + 5% of bridges need repairs, which adds about $843 to each driver’s expenses annually. FOX 5 DC

- ➤ Montgomery County Public Schools will host its 4th annual Youth Climate Summit on Saturday, April 5 at Julius West Middle School in Rockville from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.—the event will educate middle and high school students about climate change, award six SSL hours, provide lunch, and offer centralized transportation. - ➤ Maryland officials reached a budget framework deal yesterday as Gov. Wes Moore, Senate President Bill Ferguson and House Speaker Adrienne Jones announced $500 million in extra cuts on top of $2 billion already proposed to address a $3 billion deficit. The plan adds a 3% tax on IT services and is expected to turn a $3.3 billion deficit into a surplus—making it the largest spending cut in 16 years. WJLA
- ➤ The Office of Procurement will host the Montgomery County is Open for Business event on March 31 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Silver Spring Civic Building — federal contractors facing government job cuts will meet with representatives from local agencies including the Business Center, Public Schools, Montgomery College, Economic Development Corporation, WSSC Water, City of Rockville and WMATA. - ➤ Health officials in D.C., Maryland and Virginia issued exposure warnings after two measles cases were confirmed in Prince George’s County—both cases involved international travelers arriving through Dulles International Airport.
