- ➤ Andra Shirone Thompson, 48, from Silver Spring was sentenced to one year and a day for conspiracy to commit wire fraud in a scheme that defrauded COVID funds by submitting false loan applications, spending part of the money on a Lamborghini and home renovations, and must forfeit $847,280 + pay $813,363.01 in restitution along with three years of supervised release. - ➤ The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect involved in the robbery of a USPS letter carrier on Oct. 29 at 2:30 p.m. near 11820 Parklawn Drive in Rockville, where the suspect was seen wearing a light-colored top and dark pants while driving a white Hyundai SUV. - ➤ A report by TRIP showed that Maryland drivers lost nearly $12 billion due to deteriorated roads, heavy traffic and safety issues—drivers in the D.C. area lost about $3,464, while those in Baltimore and the Hagerstown/Frederick area lost about $2,807 and $1,770 respectively. The report added that congestion costs extra time and fuel and raised safety concerns, urging state and local governments to improve road conditions. WTOP
