- ➤ Montgomery County Health lifted its advisory for parts of the Potomac River — though some land areas remain affected by the January sewage spill; fallen trees damaged homes in Rockville and Potomac, and the county animal shelter will lower dog adoption fees to $16 for Mutt Madness on March 28. - ➤ Parents and students opposed Montgomery County Public Schools’ redistricting plan that would move Wootton High students to the new Crown High School — a group has filed a state complaint. The school board will vote on the proposal on Wednesday, March 26. FOX 5 DC

- ➤ Monday, Mar. 16 storms revealed warning signs in trees by leaving fallen oaks and uneven ground that may hide decay. Tree experts advise homeowners in Derwood to have a certified arborist examine their trees before the next storm hits. WTOP
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County is adding $500K to its Nonprofit Security Grant Program to help local synagogues, churches, mosques, and schools hire extra security staff within 90 days — a response to international tensions and a recent Michigan attack; County Executive Marc Elrich said the funds must be used solely for staffing. - ➤ Food banks are stepping in to feed TSA workers who have not yet received pay due to the DHS shutdown—Montgomery County residents can check the Maryland Capital Area Food Bank’s website for appointments and local distribution events. FOX 5 DC
