  • A 19-year-old neighbor in Bethesda met with Montgomery County Delegate Teresa Woorman (after taking a squatter to court at a local mansion) to push for tougher laws, with lawmakers considering making certain squatting actions a felony.  MoCo360

  • After losing her job, Hannah Peterson transformed her career by writing Vacate, a play on immigration and global connection, which will have its second performance today at 7 p.m. at Joe’s Movement Emporium in Mount Rainier — an event following her recent launch of Wonder Productions.  WTOP

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montgomery County Public Schools extended its school year to add four instructional days after a winter storm closed schools for several days. Most schools will now finish on June 25 (Arcola Elementary ends June 17) while March 20 is set aside for professional learning.  WUSA9

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A rain-snow mix will start Sunday morning in the region, then colder air will bring 1-3 inches in most parts and up to 5 inches north and west by Sunday night; a winter storm watch covers select Maryland counties & western Loudoun County, Virginia.  WTOP
  • E. coli levels remain high after a Potomac spill, raising concerns for spring tourism as DC — Maryland — and Virginia coordinate water testing.  WUSA9

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • County officials unveiled the first annual rent stabilization report on Feb. 20 at the Isiah (Ike) Leggett Executive Office Building in Rockville. The report shows that after a steep drop in early 2025, permits for new multifamily housing rebounded last quarter while tenants saw modest rent and fee savings.  MoCo360
