EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County Public Schools will pilot VOLT-AI in Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Col. Zadok Magruder, and Seneca Valley beginning Monday, March 2. The tool works with existing security cameras (flagging potential safety issues) and will be tested for one month with input from students, staff and community members. - ➤ During a Feb. 5 meeting, MCPS presented the new MSDE math policy to improve math instruction from Pre-K to grade 12 with revised standards, daily math blocks for K-8, and a two-year integrated algebra course starting fall; the Board raised concerns over early implementation and teacher training. - ➤ The Montgomery County board in Rockville voted to start closure proceedings for MBLI, the county's only charter school, if it fails to fix special education compliance issues by March 30. The school opened in August & relocated to Germantown. MoCo360

- ➤ DC Water crews reached the damaged section of the Potomac Interceptor in Montgomery County and began clearing debris and sludge from the collapsed pipe after a month-long cleanup of over 240 million gallons of wastewater spilled since Jan. 19. Full repairs are expected mid-March. FOX 5 DC
