EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ MCPS proposed a tiered staffing plan on Feb. 3 to reduce elementary class sizes by one or two students, based on FARMs eligibility and tied to a $3.78 billion operating budget for fiscal year 2027. - ➤ Montgomery County Public Libraries launched a Winter Reading Marathon that invites residents of all ages to log 26.2 hours of reading until late February. - ➤ In 2025, Montgomery County recorded 82 drug overdose deaths, a 6.5% rise from last year, with fentanyl present in over half the cases.
