Good morning, Rockville.

A WalletHub study released earlier this week ranks Maryland as the second worst state to start a business due to high corporate taxes + rising property costs, placing the state just ahead of Rhode Island.

Reagan National and Dulles are preparing for a weekend winter storm by positioning over 80 snow-fighting equipment pieces + Metro is spraying anti-icing on rails and canceling planned trackwork, so travelers should check with carriers for updated schedules.

Maryland National Guard activated 160 personnel with specialized vehicles to help civil authorities respond to an approaching winter storm, with teams positioned in central, western and eastern regions.

The deployment will support community safety and quick local emergency response later this week + preparations continue to ensure readiness.

Montgomery County declared a snow emergency as a winter storm moves into the area.

The county set alternating street parking restrictions from Jan. 24 to Jan. 27 and is offering free parking in county garages while urging residents to park in driveways or garages to keep roads clear.
