- ➤ Montgomery County officials have shared 11 parks offering some of the best sledding hills as snow is forecast soon, so residents are advised to sled with caution. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton said residents may also sled on the Capitol’s West Front grounds — a safe alternative for winter fun. WJLA
- ➤ A local report tells how a homeless mother and her 9 year old navigate SNAP cuts as monthly food assistance falls from $289 to $206 at Walmart. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ MCPS provided two take-home meals Friday ahead of a winter storm expected to bring up to 10 inches of snow this weekend. The district said if closures continue, emergency food sites will open Tuesday or Wednesday and asked community members to avoid parking in school lots to aid snow removal. MoCo360
- ➤ Community members from the Thomas S. Wootton High School cluster opposed a proposal to move Wootton to Crown High at a recent board meeting, citing fears of disrupting a stable school cluster. MCPS Superintendent Thomas Taylor will present a boundary study recommendation in February & the board is set to vote on March 26. MoCo360
