About this event
(14th St.) Candlelight Yin Yoga @ 1910 14th St. NW 3rd Flr Thanks for keeping it safe DC! Please bring proof of vaccination and booster (or proof of booster ineligibility) with you. If you need support from us please text 202-265-YOGA. Please arrive at least five minutes before class. Class description: A great class for all levels of experience. Deeply nourishing and rejuvenating. Get ready to sink into the body and breath: this practice focuses on long-held floor poses with the support of comfy props. Give yourself the time and space to open the deeper tissues of the body (such as the ligaments and joints), and balance your energy. Find out how the stillness of the breath, body, and mind can allow you to explore any sensations that arise. Gentle lighting can help set the mindful mood of this meditative class. Information for studio classes: We are so excited to be back in the studios with you! This class requires proof of full vaccination, so please bring your photo ID and vaccination card. The teacher of this class has chosen whether distancing and masks are required during the class, and this decision is reflected in the class title. Read on to learn about class levels, details on the class sequencing, and important information about your class location/format. Why the same class type can feel different when taught by different teachers: It’s our mission to ensure yoga is accessible and meets your needs! Each Yoga District teacher has their own way of teaching yoga, so we recommend trying a variety of class types with a variety of teachers. With so many options, you're bound to find a teacher and class type that work for you! Class levels: - In our all levels, aka level 1-3 classes, options for all levels of experience are offered. - In our level 1-2 class, options for both total beginners as well as intermediate practitioners of yoga will be provided - In level 1.5-2 classes, options for beginners with some experience as well as intermediate participants are provided. - In level 2-3 classes, options for both intermediate and advanced participants will be provided. - In level 1.5-3 class, options for beginners with some experience as well as intermediate and advanced participants will be provided. - In level 1 and level 1-1.5 classes, options for people totally new to yoga are the focus. Here's what to expect in the beginning, middle and end of class: Classes usually start with a series of "grounding", stabilizing movements. This can help you reconnect your mind with your body, while connecting the pace of body movements to the breath. Then the class usually transitions to more warming, strengthening, engaging poses. Toward the end of class you may find poses that focus on flexibility and release. Class usually ends with a final relaxation in "savasana" pose, during which you can lay quietly in stillness to let go. This combination of practices can help you achieve what some refer to as the goal of yoga: awareness of interconnectivity and oneness, bringing about a compassionate way of being.
