About this event

Black Men About Their Business

Where Exposure Becomes Possibility—and Possibility Becomes a Pathway

Monumental Men’s Network (MMN), alongside SGAP Leaders, presents Black Men About Their Business —an intergenerational leadership experience connecting young Black men with accomplished leaders who are building, leading, and shaping industries across the region.

Grounded in the principle “if you can see it, you can be it,” the evening creates direct access to mentorship, career pathways, and candid conversations about what it takes to build a meaningful future. This is a room designed to expand what young Black men believe is possible.

The Concept

Black Men About Their Business brings together middle and high school students, college students, emerging professionals, and accomplished Black male leaders for an evening centered on identity, leadership, career exploration, and economic opportunity.

The conversation will span corporate leadership, entrepreneurship, government, technology, healthcare, construction, skilled trades, energy, infrastructure, and emerging industries—showing young men that there is no single pathway to success.

The Experience

5:00–5:45 PM | Arrival + Connections

An intentional networking experience connecting students with professionals, mentors, employers, educational institutions, and workforce partners.

5:45–6:45 PM | Black Men About Their Business

A candid conversation with accomplished Black men across industries exploring career decisions, identity, confidence, money, mentorship, setbacks, leadership, and the realities behind their journeys.

6:45–7:30 PM | Pathways + Networking

Students engage directly with speakers, professionals, employers, and community partners to turn inspiration into relationships and tangible next steps.

Why This Matters

Representation matters. Proximity can change trajectories.

The goal is not simply to tell young Black men they can succeed—it is to put them in a room where they can see possibility, access opportunity, and meet people who can help them move forward.

Participants will gain exposure to:

• Accomplished Black male leaders across industries

• College, career, workforce, and skilled-trade pathways

• Mentors, employers, and community resources

• Candid conversations about leadership and adulthood

• An intergenerational network extending beyond one evening

Who Should Be in the Room

Middle and high school students, college students, emerging professionals, corporate executives, entrepreneurs, skilled-trade professionals, civic leaders, educators, mentors, employers, and organizations committed to developing the next generation.

From Exposure to Opportunity

Exposure → Mentorship → Education & Training → Employment → Advancement → Leadership

By bringing young men and the institutions capable of opening doors into the same room, Black Men About Their Business moves beyond inspiration toward access, relationships, and opportunity.
