About this event

For our last whisky night at Rice Market for 2026, we'll switch it up a bit and turn our palates to Scotland. We started the first Rice Market tasting with the biggest cult favorite producer in Japan, Chichibu, and this time we'll highlight arguably the most coveted whisky in Scotland today, Springbank.

Among the many explanations for why Springbank has persisted as one of the most popular distilleries in Scotland, at its heart Springbank has maintained its character as a family-driven, hands on production for decades. It is one of the few distilleries to still handle its own maltings and preserve labor intensive traditional methods, while also pioneering local barley cultivation and other sustainability minded practices.

Springbank is also part of a broader portfolio in Campbeltown, including the peated Longrow, triple distilled Hazelburn, and the younger neighboring Kilkerran revived just in 2008. Springbank's owners also operate the oldest independent bottler in Scotland, Cadenhead's. It all combines to be one of the most compelling portfolio of offerings in Scotch.

In this tasting, we'll sample a variety of limited releases across this portfolio and discuss how Springbank produces 3 distinct styles of whisky in one distillery, including:

Springbank Cage Bottle Fresh Bourbon; D: 2013, B: 2021

Springbank Burgundy Wood; D: 2003, B: 2016

Longrow Open Day 2024 Ruby Port cask; D: 2008, B: 2024

Longrow Springbank Society Refill Bourbon barrels; D: 2001, B: 2022

Hazelburn Cage Bottle Fresh Bourbon; D: 2010, B: 2021

Kilkerran Cask Strength Batch 4 Re-charred Oloroso casks; D: 2011, B: 2019

After the tasting, the bar will open up to an a la carte menu with over 25 expressions available by the dram. This will include bottles mostly no longer available bottles, including distillery hand-fills and cage bottles (IYKYK), Open Day special releases, single casks, independent bottlings, and discontinued limited releases.

Ticket Price: $125 per person (includes the guided tasting at 6:00-7:00 PM)

Rice Market also offers a Yakitori Bento by @torisumiyakitori as an add on for dinner ($22.00)
