About this event
(Glover) Stretch and Flexibility - All Levels @ 2319 Wisconsin Ave NW If you need support from us please text 202-265-YOGA. Please arrive at least five minutes before class. Class description: Stretching and flexibility flow is a class designed to help yogis to move freely without pain or restriction through the body’ natural range of motion. We will explore different movements targeting the most common tight regions in our body: back, shoulders, hips and quadriceps, and hamstrings. This class will start with some breathing techniques, and sun salutations to warm up the body followed by a flow designed to lengthened and stretch your muscles. This is a chill class to get you moving, energy flowing, but without overdoing it. Why the same class type can feel different when taught by different teachers: It’s our mission to ensure yoga is accessible and meets your needs! Each Yoga District teacher has their own way of teaching yoga, so we recommend trying a variety of class types with a variety of teachers. With so many options, you're bound to find a teacher and class type that work for you! Class levels: - In our all levels, aka level 1-3 classes, options for all levels of experience are offered. - In our level 1-2 class, options for both total beginners as well as intermediate practitioners of yoga will be provided - In level 1.5-2 classes, options for beginners with some experience as well as intermediate participants are provided. - In level 2-3 classes, options for both intermediate and advanced participants will be provided. - In level 1.5-3 class, options for beginners with some experience as well as intermediate and advanced participants will be provided. - In level 1 and level 1-1.5 classes, options for people totally new to yoga are the focus. Here's what to expect in the beginning, middle and end of class: Classes usually start with a series of "grounding," stabilizing movements. This can help you reconnect your mind with your body, while connecting the pace of body movements to the breath. Then the class usually transitions to more warming, strengthening, engaging poses. Toward the end of class you may find poses that focus on flexibility and release. Class usually ends with a final relaxation in "savasana" pose, during which you can lay quietly in stillness to let go. This combination of practices can help you achieve what some refer to as the goal of yoga: awareness of interconnectivity and oneness, bringing about a compassionate way of being. By signing up for this class you are agreeing to our wellness policy: If you have any symptoms that could be COVID you agree to not join a studio-based class. If you are sneezing, sniffling, or coughing due to allergies you agree to wear a mask throughout your time in studio.
