About this event

Old Ebbitt Grill's Oyster Riot is one of Washington, DC's most iconic celebrations. Held annually on the Friday and Saturday before Thanksgiving, this beloved event brings together oysters, exceptional wines, and great music for an unforgettable evening. Guests enjoy thousands of oysters alongside award-winning wines from the International Wines for Oysters Competition, all while soaking in the lively atmosphere that has made Oyster Riot a local tradition for decades.

As we prepare for the 29th Annual Oyster Riot on November 20 & 21, 2026, we're proud to unveil this year's commemorative artwork, created by Hillary O'Neil of Clyde's Restaurant Group. The artwork celebrates the enduring spirit of Oyster Riot, honoring the event's longstanding role in bringing together oyster enthusiasts, winemakers, and the Washington community.

The Oyster Riot is a one price, all-inclusive food, wine and music party. If you have not been, think fun cocktail party. If you have been, you know it ain’t no cocktail party, it’s a RIOT!

While the Oyster Riot is a true celebration of oysters, it also represents a significant commitment to the sustainability of the Chesapeake Bay through our partnership with the Oyster Recovery Partnership (ORP), a nonprofit organization focused on oyster restoration. In addition to a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the Oyster Recovery Project, all oyster shells from the event are donated to directly support ORP’s efforts to replenish oyster populations in the Chesapeake Bay, where oysters play a crucial role in water filtration and maintaining ecosystem health.
