About this event

(Dupont) Core-Focused Flow 1-2 @ 1605 Connecticut Ave NW 2nd Floor This uplifting flow class is designed to strengthen your body from the inside out while welcoming all levels of experience. You’ll move through a connected sequence of postures that engage and support the core, guided by your breath and always with options so you can practice in a way that feels right for you. Class often begins with a short meditation to help you arrive fully, followed by a warm-up to prepare your body. From there, you’ll explore dynamic sequences that build stability, expand your range of motion, and offer a satisfying stretch. The pace is typically a bit faster than our slow or gentle flow classes, but modifications are always available—so whether you’re new to yoga or a longtime practitioner, you can learn practice options that offer both a challenge and support. Please plan to arrive at least five minutes before class, as our doors are locked at the scheduled start time for security. If you need our support, text or call us at 202-265-YOGA. If you’ve reserved a spot but can’t attend, we’re not able to offer refunds; however, you may be eligible for a class credit. Just email our accounts team at yogadc@yogadistrict.com for support. By signing up for this class, you agree to our wellness policy: please do not attend if you have a contagious condition, and if you are sneezing, sniffling, or coughing due to allergies, we ask that you wear a mask while in the studio. Information for studio classes: We are so excited to be back in the studios with you! This class requires masks and proof of full vaccination, so please bring your photo ID and vaccination card. Read on to learn about class levels, details on the class sequencing, and important information about your class location/format. Why the same class type can feel different when taught by different teachers: It’s our mission to ensure yoga is accessible and meets your needs! Each Yoga District teacher has their own way of teaching yoga, so we recommend trying a variety of class types with a variety of teachers. With so many options, you're bound to find a teacher and class type that work for you! Class levels: - In our all levels, aka level 1-3, classes, options for all levels of experience are offered. - In our level 1-2 class, options for both total beginners as well as intermediate practitioners of yoga will be provided - In level 1.5-2 classes, options for beginners with some experience as well as intermediate participants are provided. - In level 2-3 classes, options for both intermediate and advanced participants will be provided. - In level 1.5-3 class, options for beginners with some experience as well as intermediate and advanced participants will be provided. - In level 1 and level 1-1.5 classes, options for people totally new to yoga are the focus. Here's what to expect in the beginning, middle and end of class: Classes usually start with a series of "grounding", stabilizing movements. This can help you reconnect your mind with your body, while connecting the pace of body movements to the breath. Then the class usually transitions to more warming, strengthening, engaging poses. Toward the end of class you may find poses that focus on flexibility and release. Class usually ends with a final relaxation in "savasana" pose, during which you can lay quietly in stillness to let go. This combination of practices can help you achieve what some refer to as the goal of yoga: awareness of interconnectivity and oneness, bringing about a compassionate way of being. By signing up for this class you are agreeing to our wellness policy: If you have any symptoms that could be COVID you agree to not join a studio-based class. If you are sneezing, sniffling, or coughing due to allergies you agree to wear a mask throughout your time in studio.
